Experienced Senior Quality Control Inspector required to work for a very successful, long standing manufacturing company in Southend. Great company to work for, who really value their staff, working in a very friendly environment.

Our client are a long established and very successful manufacturing company based in Southend on Sea, Essex. They are currently recruiting for a Senior Quality Control Inspector.  The Senior Quality Control Inspector is responsible for all aspects of parts quality before releasing to production. 

Joining as a Senior team member working alongside their existing Senior inspector and an Assistant QC Inspectors. You will report directly to the Quality Control Coordinator, also from time to time the Parts, Supplier, and Design Coordinators. This is a pro-active role working with many team-mates  demanding an eye for detail and exceptional communication skills.

Job description

  • You will be responsible for the inspection of incoming parts using all necessary inspection equipment (provided) against technical drawings and working closely with all departments and relevant coordinators. The inspection of parts will include dimensional and cosmetic checks, referring to golden samples held in department, it is essential that the correct quality control documents are filled in correctly, recorded and saved on file for traceability of inspection processes and part history.
  • Becoming their ‘expert’ for their Hexagon CMM. Programming the CMM with new/modified parts. Checking parts and analysing/interpreting results. Training of other team members.
  • Work closely with design team to understand key parts and their critical dimensions.
  • Working with the Supplier Coordinator to understand different suppliers and their position within  the company's overall Strategy. It is critical that a rejection situation does not affect the overall relationship issue with a critical supplier.
  • You will also be required to visit key suppliers occasionally to discuss quality issues, this does involve some long journeys across the country but is a crucial part of the job. It is also a great opportunity to see and understand the different manufacturing processes.
  • Able to produce NCR’s and supply detailed reports to suppliers on faults found.
  • Ensuring all reject parts are correctly documented in a timely manner. Contribute towards and maintain first off, parts library and drawings for all parts in QC
  • Ensuring correct stock movements of parts on ‘Factory Master ‘(FM) MRP system, through QC department and into Warehouse and/or departments, training will be given.

Key Skills

  • Previous experience in similar manufacturing role is essential.
  • Must be proficient in operating a CMM.
  • Responsible for the calibration of all mechanical measuring equipment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications. High level of experience with the use of standard inspection equipment i.e. Vernier Callipers, micrometer, optical measuring equipment - these will be provided.
  • Team Player who can work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to be confident to make decisions regarding pass & fail of parts.

Working Monday to Friday 8am-4.45pm. Salary range £27-30k + discretionary annual bonus, free lunch provided daily.
